Depression and anxiety are two of the most common reasons people seek therapy. When you feel stuck, sad, hopeless, and can’t seem to enjoy things the way you used to, therapy can help you get to the root of your problems and make both internal and external changes that improve your life. You may also have feelings of anxiety: nervousness, worry, the feeling of butterflies in your stomach or pressure in your chest. Therapy gives you the tools to cope and self regulate, so that you can learn to live comfortably and happily despite stress, conflict, and life’s challenges.

In trauma-informed therapy, we are focused on looking at your traumas and how they limit your personal growth and wellness. In many ways, most of us are unaware of the trauma that has happened. This unconsciousness leads to symptoms (usually in the form of addictions), unhealthy relationship patterns, lack of focus, and destructive patterns. We can work through our trauma by looking into our past experiences and childhood, and challenging our restrictive patterns and belief systems (i.e “I am not good enough, I am not valuable, I am not lovable.”) Whether these are “big T” traumas like death, violence, and physical abuse, or “little t” traumas like microaggressions and not being understood for who you are, you can learn tools of self-regulation and responses to triggers that will help you heal, grow, and restore your sense of safety and wellbeing.
Relationship therapy can be beneficial for individuals looking to strengthen their connection at any stage of a relationship. When partners share such an intimate bond, it becomes easy to unconsciously trigger one another's issues. Often, the issues that are deeply rooted in history and childhood come to surface in current relationships.

When partners share such an intimate bond, it becomes easy to unconsciously trigger one another's issues. Often, the issues that are deeply rooted in history and childhood come to surface in current relationships. The connection between current relationship issues and personal history is a thread that regularly goes untouched or unnamed. When you can look deeper within, and bring these connections to your consciousness, you can become more empathetic, patient, and loving partners.

In therapy focusing on women’s empowerment, we work together to break out of the psychological traps that social constructs have instilled in women: the harmful messages from society that erode at women’s self-esteem, energy, and wellness. We internalize these kinds of messages, and often fail to see the ways in which they restrict ourselves from feeling worthy, powerful, and confident. Together, we will develop personalized tools that you can use to recognize, understand and combat the restrictive habits and thought patterns that hold you back, silence your voice, and work towards a more honest, free, and happy version of yourself.

So much of the cultural world around us influences the parts of us that need healing. Since all of us are born into an unconscious world system, wounds happen no matter how hard one’s family tries to avoid them. As therapists, it is crucial for us to have a nuanced understanding of the systems around us that contribute to our personal disempowerment and trauma. Whether that may be issues with being LGBTQ, your sexuality, race, body image, misogyny, sexual assault, etc., it is a transformative practice to uncover the wounds that our cultural world has created, and then do the inner work to heal them. This kind of therapy is trauma-focused at first, which leads to empowerment: affirming the parts of us that have been injured by society, understanding them, and healing them.
EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a specialized type of trauma therapy. Through the use of what is called bi-lateral stimulation, we help the client process traumatic events and transform their understanding of their trauma from something fearful and difficult to acknowledge to something adaptable and palatable.

For individuals who may be more spiritually minded or curious about spirituality, we see the incredible impact that these practices have on therapy. When daunting life questions arise about things related to self-discovery, career goals, relationships with others and ourselves, finding our passions, healing traumas, etc., we can work towards finding our truth and inner peace through a more spiritual-focused therapy. This may include mindfulness, meditation, reiki, energy work, and sound healing.
